35. La Construcción del Tabernáculo.

Ofrendas del Pueblo Para el Tabernáculo (1-29).
1Convocó Moisés la asamblea de todo Israel, y les dijo: He aquí lo que Yahvé ha mandado hacer: 2Seis días trabajaréis, pero el séptimo será para vosotros santo, día de descanso, consagrado a Yahvé. El que en ese día haga un trabajo cualquiera, será castigado con la muerte. 3El sábado no encenderéis la lumbre en ninguna de vuestras moradas. 4Moisés habló a toda la asamblea de los hijos de Israel, y les dijo: He aquí lo que ha mandado Yahvé: 5Tomad de vuestros bienes para hacer ofrenda a Yahvé. Ofrezcan todos voluntariamente una ofrenda de oro, plata, bronces, 6jacinto, púrpura, carmesí, lino, pelo de cabrá, 7pieles de tejón teñidas de rojo y teñidas de jacinto, madera de acacia, 8aceite para el candelabro, aromas para el óleo de la unción y para el timiama, 9piedras de ónice y piedras de engaste para el efod y el pectoral. 10Cuantos de vosotros seáis hábiles, vengan para ejecutar todo lo que Yahvé ha mandado: 11el habitáculo con su tabernáculo, su cubierta, sus anillos, sus tablones, sus travesanos, sus columnas y sus basas; 12el arca y sus .barras; el propiciatorio y el velo de separación; 13la mesa con sus barras y los panes de la proposición; 14el candelabro con sus utensilios, sus lámparas y el aceite para el candelabro; 15el altar del timiama y sus barras; el óleo de unción y el timiama aromático; la cortina de la puerta de entrada al habitáculo; 16el altar de los holocaustos, su rejilla de bronce, sus barras y todos sus utensilios; la pila y su base; 17las cortinas del atrio, sus columnas, sus basas y la cortina para la puerta del atrio; 18los clavos del habitáculo y del atrio y sus cuerdas; 19las vestiduras sagradas para el servicio del santuario, las vestiduras sagradas para el sacerdote Aarón y las vestiduras de sus hijos para los ministerios sacerdotales. 20Una vez que la asamblea de Israel salió de la presencia de Moisés, vinieron todos los de corazón generoso, 21y todos aquellos a quienes impulsaba su ánimo a ofrecer dones a Yahvé para la obra del tabernáculo del testimonio y todo cuanto para el culto y las vestiduras sagradas era necesario. 22Vinieron hombres y mujeres, y todos los de ánimo dispuesto ofrecieron pendientes, arillos, anillos, cadenas, brazaletes y toda suerte de objetos de oro, presentando cada uno la ofrenda de oro que dedicaba a Yahvé. 23Cuantos tenían jacinto, púrpura, carmesí, lino, pelo de cabra y pieles de carnero teñidas de rojo y pieles de tejón, las trajeron. 24Los que tenían plata o bronce se lo trajeron a Yahvé. Lo mismo hicieron los que tenían madera de acacia para los objetos destinados al culto. 25Todas las mujeres que tenían habilidad para ello hilaron con sus manos lino, y trajeron su labor, el jacinto, la púrpura, el carmesí, el lino. 26Todas las mujeres bien dispuestas y que tenían habilidad para ello, hilaron pelo de cabra. 27Los principales del pueblo trajeron piedras de ónice y piedras de engaste para el efod y el pectoral; 28aromas y aceite para el candelabro, para el óleo de unción y para el timiama. 29Todos los hijos de Israel, hombres y mujeres, de corazón bien dispuesto, para contribuir a la obra que Yahvé había mandado hacer a Moisés, trajeron a Yahvé ofrendas voluntarias.

El precepto sabático tenía tal importancia en Israel, que le hallamos con frecuencia repetido en la Ley. Parece que aquí (v.2) el autor sagrado entrevé una época de intenso trabajo para la fabricación del santuario, y, temiendo que alguien crea que lo santo de la obra excusa la observación del sábado, lo vuelve a promulgar aquí, amenazando con la pena capital a quien lo quebrante.
Después de este preámbulo sobre el sábado, el legislador comunica las disposiciones de Yahvé tocantes al santuario, para el que son necesarios diversos materiales, tal como fue diseñado anteriormente. En la enumeración, el hagiógrafo reproduce palabra a palabra muchas veces lo ordenado en los c.25-31. Las ofrendas deben ser voluntarias. Y el pueblo responde generosamente en sus diversas clases sociales. Las mujeres, además de dar sus joyas, trabajan hábilmente para el santuario. Tenemos aquí el mismo espíritu de entrega que el mostrado por los primates del pueblo cuando se trató de la construcción del templo de Jerusalén1. No deja de sorprender cómo pudo hallarse en el pueblo, que había salido huyendo de Egipto, tanta abundancia de material textil y de piedras preciosas, metales y hasta pieles de lujo. No cabe duda que aquí nos encontramos con el género literario hiperbólico, que tiende a idealizar la época del desierto a la luz de realizaciones posteriores en el templo suntuoso de Jerusalén. Ya hemos visto cómo la salida de los israelitas de Egipto es descrita gloriosamente como el ejército de Yahvé ordenado en escuadrones, cuando en realidad eran una masa amorfa del pueblo que, atemorizada, se fue con Moisés a ciegas hacia el desierto, huyendo de los egipcios. No debemos olvidar que los textos del Pentateuco en gran parte han sido retocados por redactores posteriores, y éstos reflejan y trasladan concepciones de su época a los tiempos mosaicos del desierto. Prueba de ello son las leyes concretas relativas a la vida agrícola de Palestina, desconocida de las tribus nómadas de pastores acaudilladas por Moisés. El hagiógrafo quiere en este caso de las ofrendas más preciadas al tabernáculo mostrar la devoción y entrega del pueblo en masa para cumplir la voluntad de Yahvé.

Los versículos 30-35 presentan por medio de Moisés al artesano mayor y a su ayudante en las labores de construcción. Es significativo el hecho de que el principal artesano provenga de la tribu de Judá, correspondiente a la frontera sur del reino de Israel, y que el segundo artesano provenga de la tribu de Dan, de la frontera norte. Podría tener una intención «inclusiva». Todo el país de Israel estaba representado en esta tarea tanto por su aporte en bienes como en mano de obra.
