38. Partes del Tabernáculo.

El Altar de los Holocaustos (1-8).
1Hizo el altar de los holocaustos de madera de acacia, de cinco codos de largo, cinco de ancho, cuadrado, y tres codos de alto. 2A los cuatro ángulos hizo los cuernos, formando con él un solo cuerpo, y los revistió de bronce. 3Hizo todos sus utensilios, los vasos para la ceniza, las palas, las bandejas, los tenedores y los braseros. Todos estos utensilios eran de bronce. 4Hizo para el altar una rejilla de bronce, a modo de malla, y la colocó debajo de la cornisa del altar, hacia la mitad de él, por debajo. 5Fundió cuatro anillos para las cuatro puntas de la rejilla de bronce, para recibir las barras. 6Hizo las barras de madera de acacia y las revistió de bronce, 7y pasó las barras por los anillos a los dos lados del altar, para transportarlo. Lo hizo hueco, en tableros. 8Hizo el pilón de bronce, con los espejos de las mujeres que velaban a la entrada del tabernáculo de la reunión.

La descripción es idéntica a la Deu_27:1-8. En el v.8 se añade la anotación de que con el bronce de los espejos de las mujeres se hizo el pilón de bronce del santuario. Supone que había mujeres que con espejos velaban a la entrada del tabernáculo de la reunión (v. 8). Los autores suelen recordar, a propósito de esto, que en los santuarios egipcios se presentaban mujeres con un espejo en la mano izquierda. Parece que se trata de grupos de mujeres piadosas que frecuentaban el santuario. Pero, en realidad, ésta es la primera información a este respecto. En 1Sa_2:22 se dice que los hijos de Helí tenían relaciones sexuales con las mujeres que velaban a la puerta del tabernáculo de la congregación. San Lucas hablará de la profetisa Ana, que estaba dedicada al servicio del templo1.

El Atrio (9-20).
9Hizo el atrio. Las cortinas del atrio para el lado del mediodía eran de lino torzal y de cien codos de largo. 10Había veinte columnas con sus veinte basas de bronce. Los garfios de las columnas y sus anillos eran de plata. 11Del lado del norte había cien codos de cortina con veinte columnas y sus veinte basas de bronce. Los garfios de las columnas y los anillos eran de plata. 12Del lado de occidente había cincuenta codos de cortina y diez columnas con sus diez basas. Los corchetes de las columnas y sus garfios eran de plata. 13En el lado de delante, al oriente, había cincuenta codos; 14quince codos de cortina de una parte y tres columnas con sus basas, 15y quince codos de cortina de la otra, con tres columnas y tres basas; una parte a un lado de la entrada del atrio, la otra al otro. 16Todas las cortinas que cerraban el atrio eran de hilo torzal de lino; 17las basas de las columnas, de bronce; los garfios y los anillos, de plata, y los capiteles estaban revestidos de plata. 18La cortina de la entrada del atrio estaba tejida en vario dibujo, en hilo torzal, jacinto, púrpura y carmesí; era de veinte codos de largo y cinco de alto en lo ancho, según la medida de las otras cortinas del atrio. 19Sus cuatro columnas y sus cuatro basas, de bronce; los garfios y los anillos, de plata, y los capiteles, revestidos de plata. 20Todos los clavos para el habitáculo y el recinto del atrio eran de bronce.

La descripción del atrio, o rectángulo que rodeaba al santuario, es sustancialmente la que hemos visto en 27:9-19.

Sarna del Importe de Materiales Empleados (21-31).
21He aquí el cómputo de lo empleado para el habitáculo; el habitáculo del testimonio, hecho por los levitas de orden de Moisés y bajo la dirección de Itamar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón. 22Besalel, hijo de Urí, hijo de Jur, de la tribu de Judá, hizo cuanto Yahvé había mandado a Moisés, 23teniendo por ayudante a Oliab, hijo de Ajisemec, de la tribu de Dan, hábil escultor, dibujante, para tejido en varios dibujos en jacinto, púrpura y carmesí, de lino torzal. 24El total de oro empleado en la obra del santuario, producto de las ofrendas, veintinueve talentos con setecientos treinta siclos al peso del siclo del santuario. 25La plata de los de la asamblea que fueron incluidos en el censo se elevó a cien talentos y mil setecientos setenta y cinco siclos al peso del siclo del santuario. 26Era una beca por cabeza, medio siclo, según el siclo del santuario, para cada hombre comprendido en el censo, de veinte años para arriba, o sea, de seiscientos tres mil quinientos cincuenta. 27Los cien talentos de plata se emplearon para fundir las basas del santuario, las del velo; cien talentos, un talento por basa. 28Con los mil setecientos setenta y cinco siclos se hicieron los garfios para las columnas y se revistieron los capiteles. 29El bronce ofrendado subió a setenta talentos y dos mil cuatrocientos siclos. 30De él se hicieron las basas de la entrada del tabernáculo de la reunión, el altar de bronce, con su rejilla, y todos sus utensilios; 31las basas del recinto del atrio y las de la puerta, y todas las otras piezas de bronce del habitáculo y del recinto del atrio.

La sección de los v.21-31 interrumpe el relato de los c. 38 y 39. Por otra parte, parece que se anticipan ciertos hechos, pues supone a los levitas ya en funciones, lo que, según Núm 3, no tuvo lugar sino en el segundo mes del año segundo después de la salida de Egipto2. Además, la evaluación de sumas de dinero aportadas supone el empadronamiento ordenado al principio del libro de los Números. Una tal evaluación parece basarse sobre una confusión entre la ofrenda voluntaria exigida para la construcción del santuario y la tasa de medio siclo impuesta como contribución para asegurar el servicio de la tienda de la reunión.3 La mención del siclo del santuario en los dos pasajes (38:26 y 30:13) supone la distinción establecida entre este siclo y el siclo ordinario; y esta distinción es de época tardía, y sólo se concibe después del establecimiento en Canaán. Se supone que esta perícopa (38:21-31) formaba originariamente parte de un sumario más detallado que comprendía igualmente lo que había sido entregado en maderas, telas y piedras preciosas, del que provendría el principio del 39:1a4.
Las estimaciones dadas aquí en talentos de oro o de plata son extremadamente exageradas, según es ley en estas descripciones sobre el glorioso pasado, idealizado conforme a concepciones grandiosas en consonancia con la magnificencia del templo de Salomón, y aun así la imaginación del redactor se desborda. Suponiendo el talento con un valor de 3.000 siclos, y el siclo de unos 15 gramos (varía el valor del siclo de 12 gramos a 16 gramos), cien talentos de plata y 29 de oro son una suma exorbitante, que no es imaginable se encontrara en poder de los israelitas por mucho que hubieran expoliado a los egipcios al salir. Lo mismo hay que decir de la cifra de 603.550 hombres empadronados de veinte años para arriba (v.26). Al comentar la cifra de 600.000 varones de a pie salidos de Egipto, hemos indicado cómo el redactor ha aumentado las cifras para idealizar la historia, concibiendo al pueblo hebreo como un ejército digno de paragonarse con el del mismo faraón. Estas cifras exorbitantes han de ser explicadas a la luz de la épica popular, que ha engrandecido los acontecimientos históricos, trasladando al pasado reflejos ambientales de su tiempo. Tenemos que suponer que el tabernáculo del desierto era modesto, conforme exigían las circunstancias de la vida nómada esteparia, si bien de gran magnificencia en comparación con las otras tiendas de pieles de cabra de los israelitas.

1 And [ Exo_27:1.] he made the Altar of burnt offring of Shittim wood: fiue cubits was the length thereof, and fiue cubits the breadth thereof: it was foure square, and three cubits the height thereof.
2 And hee made the hornes thereof on the foure corners of it: the hornes thereof were of the same, and he ouerlayed it with brasse.
3 And he made all the vessels of the Altar, the pots and the shouels, and the basons, and the fleshhookes, and the firepannes: all the vessels thereof made he of brasse.
4 And he made for the Altar a brasen grate of networke, vnder the compasse thereof, beneath vnto the midst of it.
5 And hee cast foure rings for the foure ends of the grate of brasse, to bee places for the staues.
6 And he made the staues of Shittim wood, and ouerlayed them with brasse.
7 And hee put the staues into the rings on the sides of the Altar, to beare it withall; hee made the Altar hollow with boards.

18 And the hanging for the gate of the Court was needle worke, of blew, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linnen: and twentie cubites was the length, and the height in the breadth was fiue cubites, answerable to the hangings of the Court.
19 And their pillars were foure, and their sockets of brasse foure, their hookes of siluer, and the ouerlaying of their chapiters, & their fillets of siluer.
