1 Dauid in a solemne assembly, hauing declared Gods fauour to him, and promise to his sonne Solomon, exhorteth them to feare God. 9.20 Hee encourageth Solomon to build the Temple. 11 He giueth him paternes for the forme, and gold and siluer for the materials.
1 And Dauid assembled all the Princes of Israel, the Princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministred to the king by course: and the captaines ouer the thousands, and captaines ouer the hundreds, and the stewards ouer all the substance and [ Or, cattell.] possession of the King, and of his sonnes, with the [ Or, Eunuches.] officers, and with the mightie men, and with all the valiant men, vnto Ierusalem.

6 And he said vnto me, [ 2Sa_7:13 ; 2Ch_1:9 .] Solomon thy sonne, hee shall build my house and my courts: for I haue chosen him to be my sonne, and I will be his father.
7 Moreouer, I will establish his kingdome for euer, if he be [ Hebrew: strong.] constant to do my commandements and my iudgements, as at this day.
8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel, the congregation of the Lord, and in the audience of our God, keepe, and seeke for all the commandements of the Lord your God, that ye may possesse this good land, and leaue it for an inheritance for your children after you, for euer.

Instrucciones de David sobre el templo (28:1-21).

Reunida toda la asamblea de Israel, expone David los motivos por los cuales no emprende la obra de la construcción del templo· pero manifiesta que la llevará a cabo su hijo Salomón, a quien entrega los materiales recogidos para la construcción de la obra, los utensilios para el culto, los planos y proyectos del santuario. Salomón fue solamente el autor material de la obra. Inculca David a todo el pueblo la observancia de todos los mandamientos corno condición para poseer la tierra y dejarla en heredad a los hijos para siempre (v.8). Amonesta severamente en este mismo sentido a su hijo Salomón. Recibió también Salomón de su padre la distribución de los órdenes de los sacerdotes y los levitas.

*28 Tras el largo paréntesis de 1Cr 23:3-32; 1Cr 24:1-31; 1Cr 25:1-31; 1Cr 26:1-32; 1Cr 27:1-34, el testamento de David conecta con 1Cr 28:1 s. Presentes las autoridades del reino, a excepción de sacerdotes y levitas, David se dirige a sus «hermanos» -el rey es un igual y «hermano» del resto del pueblo- exponiéndoles sus planes de construir el templo. Como él no puede llevarlo a cabo, por belicoso y sanguinario (acaso haya una alusión a la muerte de Urías), encomienda esta tarea a su hijo, al que entrega los planos detallados de la nueva construcción (1Cr 28:11-19). El templo terrestre ha de ser un reflejo del celeste; solo Dios puede revelarlo (Éxo 25:1-40; Éxo 26:1-37; Éxo 27:1-21; Éxo 28:1-43; Éxo 29:1-46; Éxo 30:1-38; Eze 40:1-49; Eze 41:1-26; Eze 42:1-20; Eze 43:1-27; Eze 44:1-31; Eze 45:1-25; Eze 46:1-24). Su estructura es una especie de revelación (1Cr 28:19). Es obligado que Dios sostenga a David y al pueblo en la ejecución de la obra (1Cr 28:10; 1Cr 28:20).

El diseño del templo. Todo lo que David ha dicho en los vv. 1-10 ha hecho resaltar la iniciativa y la acción de Dios. Ahora esto se debe poner en acción por Salomón. Se relaciona con lo que Dios le dio a hacer a Moisés cuando se diseñaba el primer tabernáculo (diseño, 11, es la misma palabra utilizada en Exo. 9, 40 que también se traduce como modelo); abarca personas tanto como cosas utilizadas en la obra del servicio de la casa de Dios (13). El diseño de Dios para Moisés aquí se renueva con David (19) y también con Salomón (20, 21). Dios esperaba que Salomón colaborara activamente, y Salomón nunca sintió que los planes de Dios fueran fastidiosos ni restrictivos. El v. 20 es aun más parecido que los vv. 8 y 10 al consejo animador de Deut. 31:6-8 y Jos. 1:5-7, el eco del cual también se escucha en Heb. 13:5, 6.

Testamento de David. Luego de un largo paréntesis se empalma con 23,3. El discurso de David (2-10) se centra en el tema de la construcción del Templo, en función del cual Salomón es elegido por Dios como rey. El Templo es entonces la tarea primordial de Salomón. En los versículos 11-19 se hace mención de la entrega de los planos del Templo por parte de David a Salomón. Según las creencias de la época, es la divinidad misma la que entrega los planos del Templo, que ha de ser imagen del Templo celeste y que sólo Dios puede revelar (Éx 25-30; Ez 40-46); en este sentido, la estructura del Templo es una especie de revelación (12.20).
