En la narracion se dan los nombres de los hijos de David (2 Sarn 3:2-5) nacidos en Hebrón y de los que le nacieron en Jerusalén (1Cr_14:3-7). Sigue la lista de los reyes de Judá hasta la cautividad y de los descendientes de David a partir de Saaltiel (Mat_1:12-16). En Esdras (Mat_3:2-8; Neh_12:1; Age_1:1; Age_1:12; Age_1:14), Saaltiel es el padre de Zorobabel. Las genealogías llegan hasta mediados del siglo IV a.C.

*3 En la sección formada por 1Cr 2:1-55; 1Cr 3:1-24; 1Cr 4:1-23, la dedicada a los descendientes de David y Salomón (cap. 1Cr 3:1-24) constituye la unidad central por los siguientes motivos: incluye a los hijos de David, a los sucesores de Salomón anteriores al destierro (1Cr 3:10-16) y posteriores, a partir de Jeconías, el cautivo (1Cr 3:17): la comunidad posexílica, portadora de la antorcha real-mesiánica, entronca con el rey cautivo (1Cr 3:17-24). El cronista tiende un puente entre la humilde comunidad posterior al destierro y aquella otra espléndida comunidad de la época davídico-salomónica.

Se divide en tres partes: la primera que presenta a los hijos de David (1-9), la segunda a los reyes de Judá (10-16) y la tercera, a los descendientes de David tras el exilio (17-24). La familia por Ram (repetición). Aquí está la familia que vino de David, para balancear (en la sección anterior Ram) la familia de la cual provino David. Esta información pudo haber ve nido de 2 Sam. 3:2-5; 5:5, 14-16, aunque por raro que parezca, Crón. tiene el relato más completo, mencionando nada menos que 19 hijos de David.
