29. Las Fiestas de Otoño.
E ran las del mes séptimo, la de la Expiación en el día décimo del mes, y la de los Tabernáculos, del 15 al 21 del mes. Además estaba la de las Trompetas, el día primero del mes, y otra fiesta el día 24.

Fiesta de las Trompetas (1-6).
1El séptimo mes, el día primero del mes, tendréis asamblea santa y no haréis en él trabajo servil alguno. Será para vosotros el día del sonar de las trompetas. 2Ofreceréis, como holocausto de suave olor a Yahvé, un novillo, un carnero y siete corderos primales sin defecto; 3y como oblación, flor de harina amasada con aceite, tres décimas por el novillo, dos por el carnero 4y una por cada uno de los siete siete corderos. 5Ofreceréis un macho cabrío en sacrificio por el pecado, para expiaros. 6Lo ofreceréis a más del holocausto del mes y su oblación, y del holocausto perpetuo y su oblación, y de sus libaciones, según lo prescrito. Son sacrificios de combustión, de grato olor a Yahvé.

El novilunio del mes séptimo es principio del año civil, y es preciso celebrarlo con especiales sacrificios para obtener de Yahvé un feliz año nuevo. Será ese día santo y se abstendrán de todo trabajo. En Babilonia era este día muy solemne, porque en él se reunían los dioses para fijar los destinos de la ciudad en el año que comenzaba, y, por tanto, era muy importante tenerlos propicios en ese día con sacrificios y oraciones. Entre los hebreos había un sentido de la Providencia divina mucho más alto, y no creían que en ese día se decidiera fatalmente la suerte del año, pero era muy importante entrar en buenas disposiciones religiosas en el nuevo año, y de ahí los sacrificios para aplacar a la divinidad. Además de los sacrificios del nuevo mes o neomenia, se ofrecen otros nuevos, específicos de la fiesta. El mes séptimo era sabático y era particularmente santo, y su carácter sagrado quedaba marcado con la celebración de dos fiestas: Tabernáculos y Expiación1.

Sacrificios en el día de la Expiación (7-11).
7El día diez de ese mismo mes tendréis asamblea santa, y afligiréis vuestras almas, y no haréis en él trabajo alguno. 8Ofreceréis en holocausto de olor grato a Yahvé un novillo, un carnero y siete corderos primales sin defecto; 9y como oblación, flor de harina amasada con aceite, tres décimas por el novillo, dos por el carnero 10y una por cada uno de los siete corderos. 11Ofreceréis un macho cabrío en sacrificio por el pecado, a más del sacrificio expiatorio, del holocausto perpetuo y de sus oblaciones y libaciones.

Son los mismos sacrificios que en el año nuevo, además de los ordinarios cotidiano o perpetuo. Nada se dice de su ritual, que es ampliamente descrito en Lev 16. En Lev_23:26-32 se insiste en la necesidad del ayuno y del reposo. La legislación de Num_29:5-11 se considera en general como más reciente.

Sacrificios en la Fiesta de los Tabernáculos (12-39).

La fiesta de los Tabernáculos, al fin del año agrícola, cuando el pueblo tenía llenas sus arcas y aspiraba a descansar de sus pasadas faenas y al mismo tiempo deseaba alcanzar de Dios la lluvia temprana para comenzar de nuevo la sementera, se celebraba con mayor solemnidad, y el ritual es más detallado. Empezaba el día 15 del mes séptimo (Tisrí: septiembre-octubre), y duraba ocho días, de los cuales el primero y el último eran días santos, en los que no era permitido trabajar. Los sacrificios son numerosos: el día primero, 13 novillos, dos carneros y 14 corderos primales con sus oblaciones, más el macho cabrío por el pecado. Todo sin contar los sacrificios cotidianos o perpetuos. En los días siguientes hasta el séptimo se disminuye un novillo cada día, quedando intacto el número de las otras víctimas. El día octavo, las víctimas son un toro, un carnero y siete corderos. En suma, el número de las víctimas que oficialmente debían ofrecerse por razón de esta solemnidad eran 71 novillos, 15 carneros, 105 corderos, más ocho machos cabríos. Total: 199 víctimas. Todo esto sin los sacrificios cotidianos y los voluntarios de los fieles, los del sábado o sábados que cayeran en estas fiestas. Era una verdadera hecatombe, y el recinto del santuario un verdadero macelo. Esta fiesta de los Tabernáculos era, pues, la fiesta por excelencia2. Aparte de fiesta de acción de gracias por la recolección de los frutos, simbolizaba esta fiesta la estancia de los israelitas en el desierto; por eso la gente iba a la campiña a vivir en chozas, y aun hoy día se celebra así en la población judía, culminando la fiesta con el día octavo, llamado de la simjah Torah (alegría de la Ley). La reglamentación de tantos sacrificios parece que debió de ser hecha en tiempos de opulencia y de fervor religioso durante la monarquía3.

1 And in the seuenth moneth, on the first day of the moneth, ye shall haue an holy conuocation, yee shall doe no seruile worke: [ Lev_23:24.] it is a day of blowing the trumpets vnto you.
2 And ye shall offer a burnt offering for a sweet sauour vnto the Lord, one yong bullocke, one ramme, and seuen lambes of the first yeere without blemish.
3 And their meat offering shall be of floure mingled with oyle, three tenth deales for a bullocke, and two tenth deales for a ramme:

El holocausto en la fiesta de los Tabernáculos. El título fiesta de los Tabernáculos se deriva de Lev. 23:33-43, pero no se usa aquí. Este era el último gran día del año, el día 15 del mes séptimo. En el primer día se sacrificaban 13 novillos, 2 carneros y 14 corderos. Por siete días se reducía el número de los novillos, uno cada día. En el octavo día se presentaban las mismas ofrendas que se ofrecían en las otras fiestas. El interés en Núm. es sobre las ofrendas. De Lev. y Deut. 16:13-17 aprendemos un poco más en cuanto al significado de la fiesta de los Tabernáculos (ver también Neh. 8:13-18). Era el tiempo de la última cosecha, un tiempo de regocijo cuando Israel traería abundantes ofrendas voluntarias (v. 39). Esta fue la ocasión cuando Salomón dedicó el templo, ofreciendo 22.000 toros y 120.000 ovejas y cabras, durante el lapso de catorce días (1 Rey. 8:2, 62-66).

Existe una gran analogía espiritual en estos festivales. La Pascua (la conmemoración de la liberación de Egipto y de la muerte) corresponde a la crucifixión de Cristo; la fiesta de las semanas o Pentecostés (el día de las primicias) corresponde al envío del Espíritu Santo y los primeros frutos de la cosecha del evangelio (Hech. 2). De igual manera, la de los Tabernáculos corresponde a la segunda venida de Cristo al final de los tiempos, marcando el final de la cosecha. El tiempo entre la fiesta de las semanas y la de los Tabernáculos era un período ocupado cuando Israel trabajaba para la cosecha. De igual manera, entre Pentecostés y la segunda venida los obreros son enviados a levantar la cosecha entre los gentiles (Mat. 9:37, 38; 13:30-39; Luc. 10:2; Juan 4:35). Al final de los tiempos se levantará la cosecha y la cizaña será arrojada al fuego (Mat. 13:39; Mar. 4:29; Apoc. 14:15).

La cosecha también era un tiempo para recordar que Dios les había dado la tierra prometida y bendecido abundantemente allí (he aquí por qué habitaban temporalmente en enramadas, recordando su peregrinaje hacia la tierra). De igual manera, al final de los tiempos, el pueblo de Dios se regocijará en él quien los ha llevado al reino eternal. De esta manera, la fiesta de los Tabernáculos celebra la herencia, el tema central de los caps. 26-36. Por último, hay un punto análogo. Así como las trompetas convocaban al pueblo a ésta que era la más grande de las fiestas, así al final de los tiempos la trompeta llamará a la gente a reunirse ante Dios quien es el juez de los vivos y los muertos.
