Celebra este salmo de las subidas la dicha de la vida familiar, como es patente por el doble «dichoso» (1a.2b), por la doble bendición (4a.5a), por el doble bien o bienestar (2b.5b) y por la paz final (6b). El trabajo del hombre no es «en vano», como en el salmo anterior, sino que lleva la bendición de Dios, porque cuenta con Dios. Todos están ocupados: el padre en el trabajo, la mujer en la casa y la familia reunida en torno a la mesa. Las imágenes vegetales (3) sugieren la fecundidad y el crecimiento. Los dos símbolos aluden a Israel. El salmo propicia un paso de la familia a Jerusalén, madre de Israel. El simbolismo matrimonial es referido a Cristo y a la Iglesia en Efe_5:21-32. Podemos orar con este salmo unidos a la pequeña familia en la que nacimos o que formamos y también en vinculación con la gran familia, la Iglesia, reunida en torno a la mesa del Señor.
