Existen dos formas teológicas de ver la vida. El necio niega la existencia de Dios (2). Si Dios no existe, todo me está permitido; incluso explotar al prójimo indefenso, aunque sea algo que es propiedad del Señor: su pueblo y su grano (4). El sensato busca a Dios (2); por ello hace el bien y se refugia en Dios (6). Dios no permanece pasivo, sino que inspecciona desde lo alto, y llega a la dolorosa conclusión de que el mal está generalizado (3). No obstante queda un pequeño grupo de justos y de humildes -el resto-, en cuya asamblea está Dios (5s). El desenlace es terror y bochorno frente a la protección y asistencia (5s). Esta forma de ver la vida es aplicable al destierro babilónico y al retorno de Israel tras el destierro (7). Los versículos 2s son citados en Rom_3:10-12, para exponer la corrupción universal. ¿Nos creemos de verdad que Dios está con el pobre? Este salmo es adecuado para creyentes y para ateos.
