Suele decirse que este salmo, como el Sal 15, es una liturgia de entrada en el Templo. Un grupo pregunta por las condiciones que ha de reunir quien pretende entrar en la casa de Dios (3). Alguien autorizado le responde (4). Nunca sabremos con qué motivo sucedía esto. Lo que es cierto es que dos planos se yuxtaponen y entrecruzan. El breve himno al Creador, que da solidez y consistencia a la creación (1b-2) cede el paso al Templo (3): de la escena universal se salta a la concentración muy particular del Templo. A este lugar santo acuden simultáneamente los fieles y el Señor (3-6). Existen correspondencias y también divergencias entre ambas escenas. La gran correspondencia es ésta: tierra/habitantes y Templo/visitantes. Las divergencias son manifiestas en las preguntas que valen para los visitantes y en los imperativos que sólo son válidos para el Señor. Los visitantes han de cumplir determinadas condiciones; el Señor, ninguna. Los fieles son identificados con los que buscan a Dios (6). Para el Señor, el Rey de la Gloria, es suficiente con su Nombre propio y con su título. 1Co_10:26 cita el versículo 1 para justificar la libertad cristiana. El «héroe valeroso» del versículo 8 remite a Luc_11:21. El corazón puro (4) es motivo de bienaventuranza en Mat_5:8. El espíritu religioso necesita experimentar la total alteridad divina. Así se situará adecuadamente ante el Dios creador, santo y excelso.
