Esta súplica individual -que es una repetición de Sal_40:14-18 con pequeñas variantes- está formada por una maldición (3s) y una bendición (5), enmarcadas entre un invitatorio (2) y una conclusión (6). La confusión será para quienes se burlan del salmista; la bendición para quienes confiesan la grandeza divina. La urgencia del comienzo del salmo y la súplica «¡No tardes!» del final se dan la mano. Dios debe apresurarse porque tiene ante sí a un pobre y oprimido. Las burlas del enemigo son las de Mat_27:42s; su retroceso sucede en el huerto (cfr. Jua_18:6). El pobre es aquel que, siendo rico, se hizo pobre por nosotros (2Co_8:9). Cuando deseamos suplicar por nosotros o por los demás podemos recurrir a este salmo.
